They’re back! From Friday 23rd May, the Westwood Cross dinosaurs return for another summer of prehistoric fun
Always a hit with children (and selfie-takers!), our larger-than-life dinosaur models will be lurking across the centre until late summer. Follow the trail, meet the gang, and see how many you can spot!
These roarsome creatures have become part of the Westwood Cross family – we’ve even given them names! Scroll down to meet our Jurassic residents and discover some fun dino facts along the way.
Meet the dinosaurs
Bernard the Parasaurolophus
This unusual herbivore lived during the Late Cretaceous period and is known for the long, bony crest on its head. Scientists believe it may have used this to make deep, foghorn-like sounds to communicate.
Camilla the Stegosaurus
Camilla is a Jurassic plant-eater, famous for the rows of bony plates and spiked tail. The name 'Stegosaurus' comes from the Greek for ‘roofed lizard’ – though she’s much friendlier than she sounds.
Boris and Napoleon the T-Rex
Say hello to our mighty Tyrannosaurs! Boris is the big boss, while Napoleon is a smaller (but no less fierce) version of the legendary 'tyrant lizard'. These fearsome meat-eaters ruled the Late Cretaceous with powerful jaws and sharp teeth.
Charles the Dilophosaurus
Charles is one of the earliest large predators, living in the Early Jurassic period. His name means ‘double-crested reptile’, and he’s built for speed. Look out for his colourful frill – it’s normally retracted, but he can flash it when he wants to impress!
Don’t forget to take some dino selfies and tag us!
The trail is free to explore all summer long – perfect for a fun family day out.
