Purple Tuesday
Purple Tuesday at Westwood Cross
Join us at Westwood Cross as we celebrate Purple Tuesday, the global movement dedicated to improving the customer experience for disabled people and raising awareness of accessibility.
At Westwood Cross, we do our best to ensure our shopping centre is accessible to everyone, and we are regularly audited so that our services are suitable for all our visitors to come and enjoy.
On Tuesday 4th November we’ll be supporting Purple Tuesday, the UK's accessible shopping day, and raising awareness of the accessible features and facilities available in our centre.
Our accessible services include:
- Disabled parking facilities
- Hidden Disabilities sunflower lanyard
- Accessible toilet facilities and lift access
- An autism quiet room in the community hub
- Ear defenders available on request
- Centre staff trained in adult mental health first aid
- Silent shopping days on Wednesdays and Sundays
- Staff are Makaton trained and the rest of the team are learning
Connect with us using British Sign Language (BSL)
SignLive is a Video Relay Service that allows our deaf and hard of hearing guests to connect with an online BSL Interpreter during opening hours. The BSL interpreter will talk to the member of staff you would like to connect with and sign their responses to you.
The service can be accessed by scanning our SignLive QR code at the Centre Management Office. You can also access SignLive via the app or a web browser. Please ask a member of staff if you’d like to use SignLive.
