Westwood Cross is proud to support the community by providing fundraising opportunities for
charities, community promotions and educational surveys, all free of charge.
The following Charities will be collecting at WestWood Cross this month and all support would be most welcome:
| 4th & 5th | Ablekidz | Aim to advance the educational experience of disabled children and young persons in the UK by helping to ensure that a disabled child does not experience educational disadvantage because of their disability. |
| 13th & 14th | Marie Curie | Provide free nursing care to cancer patients and those with other terminal illnesses in their own homes. |
| 27th | Guide Dogs | Provide mobility and freedom to blind and partially sighted people, campaign for the rights of people with visual impairment and educate the public about eye care and fund eye disease research. |
Supporting the Arts: Land Securities, which owns and manages Westwood Cross, supports the The Create-a-Quest arts scheme, devised by The Prince’s Foundation for Children & the Arts. Art by a group of Margate children is on public display at Westwood Cross, as part of a major national arts project.
General Recycling: Westwood Cross Shopping Centre is also proud to be doing it's share in caring for the environment through it's recycling strategies.In 2009 Westwood Cross recycled 45% of all it's waste, including 220 tons of cardboard, reducing waste to Landfill by 120 tons.Our target is to recycle 100% of all waste by 2012.
Battery Recycling: New regulations on the recycling of batteries were introduced this year. The Batteries Regulations aim to significantly increase UK collection and recycling of used portable batteries from the current rate of about 3% to 25% by 2012, rising to at least 45% in 2016.
